Srinagar, Dec 4 (IANS) Night temperatures remained below the freezing point in both Kashmir and Ladakh on Friday as the weather office forecast another spell of rain and snow beginning on Sunday.

"Another two-day long spell of rain and snow is likely to occur in J&K and Ladakh beginning on December 6," officials of the local MET department said.

Srinagar, Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 1.2, minus 2.5 and minus 2.2 as the minimum temperatures respectively.

Leh town of Ladakh recorded minus 8.5 and Kargil town minus 8.2 as the day's lowest temperatures.

Drass town of Ladakh, which is the coldest inhabited place in India, recorded minus 11.8 as the minimum temperature.

According to a BRO signboard, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Drass was minus 60 degrees Celsius in January 9, 1995.

Jammu city had 11.2, Katra 10.2, Batote 5.0, Bannihal 2.0 and Bhaderwah again 2.0 as the lowest temperatures today.
