9/11/1906Gandhiji addressed a mass meeting of Indians at Johannesburg, where they took oath of passive resistance against the newly promulgated 'Transvaal Asiatic Law Amendment Ordinance'.
11/2/1871Kashinath Raghunath Mitra, famous editor of monthly magzine 'Manoranjan', was born.
2/18/1895Shri Rafi Ahmed Kidwai, nationalist, patriot, social reformer and Congress leader, was born at Masauli village, Barabanki District.
6/1/1992Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Academy established at Satara.
8/9/1942Mahatma Gandhi after announcing 'do or die' slogan alongwith 'Quit India Movement' at Bombay was arrested along with 50 others. Gandhiji was interned in Aga Khan Palace at Poona. This Do or Die slogan deep rooted in Indian hearts and resulted in nationwide Quit India Movment. This day is commemorated as ""Kranti Day"". Govind Vallabh Pant was send to Ahmednagar Jail, while Sarojini Naidu and many other leaders were also arrested.

2/17/1931Viceroy of India Lord Irvin accepted Mahatma Gandhi as leader of people and invited him at Vicregal Lodge (now known at Rashtrapati Bhavan). After the event, Winston Churchill, who later became Prime Minister of Britain, referred Gandhiji as ""the Half-Naked Fakir of India"".
4/11/1999The DRDO has successfully flight tested AGNI-11 with a range of 2000 km, using solid propellant rocket motors in both stages and rail mobile launcher system from its new launch complex in the Orissa Coast. With this launch the country has reached the point of operationalisation of AGNI-11 as a weapon system. (1-1-2000).
2/15/1936Nabin Chandra Bardoloi, freedom fighter, passed away. He was known for his patriotism and zeal for constructive work and was a forceful and emotional orator and debater and an eminent writer in Assamese litrature. He was also a musician and composed good number of patriotic poems and songs.
