7/4/1789British East India Company signed a treaty with the Nizam of Hydrabad and Peshwa of Pune against Tipu Sultan, King of Mysore, on the understanding that a cavalry of 10,000 would attack Tipu's territory and the conquered area would be divided amongst the three.
2/5/1931Krishna Film Co., Bombay produced a 7,659 feet long 'Krishnatone Talkie Programme No. 1, which was released quite before the release of 'Alam Ara,' first talkie film of India. The Krishnatone Programme was censored at C.C. 7/28/1994Uproar in Parliament over the Government's rejection of JPC report.
4/24/1858Kunwar Singh, revolutionary of Indian mutiny and freedom fighter, passed away. He fought his last battle near Jagdishpur, Bihar on April 23, 1858 and defeated the Britishers but was deeply wounded. He also organised the national rebels.
3/29/1849Maharaj Dulip Singh left the throne of Punjab that once belonged to his late father Ranjit Singh and was then occupied by the East India Company. The Britishers had captured it after defeating the Sikh Army at Amritsar.
