5/10/1901Sir Jagdish Chandra Bose, Indian scientist, in the hall of the Royal Society, London, which was packed with eminent scientists today on May 10, 1901 proved that ""plants and animal have similar touch sense"".
2/9/1757In a treaty between Lord Clive and Siraj Ud Daulah, Clive was authorised to safe guard (Killa Bandi) and open mint at Calcutta. Nawab had paid compensation to British Army.
9/22/1902Sorabjee Harmasji Colah, (right-hand batsman who batted in India's first two Tests), was born in Bombay.
1/17/1905Dattaraya Ramchandra Kaprekar was born at Dahanu near Bombay. He discovered the shortest possible routes to solve mathematical problems. In 1927, he won the wrangler R. P. Paranjpe Mathematical Prize for an Original Piece of work in mathematics. He discovered 'Kaprekar Constant' in 1946. It is the number ""6174"". The constant 6174 is arrived at and this number then generates itself into one set of numbers called ""self numbers"" that is also known by his name. Kaprekar passed away in 1988.
