Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) USA is a voluntary, non-profit, social and cultural organization. Sangh, as the organization is popularly known, aims to preserve, practice and promote Hindu values. HSS conducts structured programs of regular athletic and academic activities to develop strong character and leadership skills in its members (known as swayamsevaks for men and sevikas for women), emphasizing values such as self-discipline, self-confidence and a spirit of selfless service (seva) for humanity.Through its weekly program known as 'Shakha' (a branch in Sanskrit), HSS aims to provide a fun-filled atmosphere.A weekly Shakha is typically 90 minutes in duration and has programs for all age groups. Children's program in Shakha is also called 'Balagokulam' and includes shlokas, games, songs, yoga, stories, and arts and crafts.Programs for adults include yoga, games, discussions etc. Apart from the weekly Shakha, HSS also conducts other programs for the larger community.
